Archway project took a group of us to watch the Muntjac Enduro on Sunday 28th February, we were also supporting Joe Searchfield who entered the race; Joe is a volunteer at the project. We had to get up at around 5 am to meet at the project for 5.45am, we quickly got Joe’s bike out and put it on the trailer, we got boots jumped in the bus and made a move. It took us about 2 hours to get there and I slept most of the way.
When we got to the track we took Joe’s bike to be inspected and the inspectors said it was the best sprocket guard they’ve seen all day. Joe’s bike passed the inspection then we walked his bike to the pits and went to work out his lap times.
I watched Joe start his first lap which is 22 miles long and will take him about an hour to complete, we then went and watched the special test and waited for Joe to turn up. The special test is at about 6 miles into the lap. We watched Joe and met him at the end of the special test to give him some jelly babies for energy. Joe looked knackered!
At the end of Joes second lap we waited for him at the pits to refuel his bike, his bike was proper muddy and he looked like he wasn’t enjoying it very much. Once we refuelled his bike he headed out for another 22 miles of mud and obstacles.
By now we was all pretty cold and we were all waiting for Joe to finish his third lap, we waited long! At the end of Joes third lap he had to quit as it was just to tough.
We loaded Joe’s bike up on to the trailer and headed back for London. Even though Joe didn’t finish it was still a great day.
The best bit of the day was watching David Knight, Paul Edmondson and the other championship riders.
I got wet and cold because the weather was miserable.
